An Oxnard Police officer was injured, and four children had to be rescued following a confrontation with a man armed with a gun.
It happened just before 4 p.m. yesterday, on the 2700 block of El Dorado Avenue in Oxnard. Officers were called to the area by reports of a man armed with a gun, and when they arrived, there was an exchange of gunfire.
The man went into an open apartment, and there was a standoff because of the fear that four children inside might be hurt. They were rescued by a SWAT team, and the man was safely taken into custody. No additional shots were fired. The man’s name hasn’t been released yet.
The police officer’s injuries are described as minor, and it’s unclear as to whether he was struck by a fragment of a bullet, or debris.
