Judge Finds Ventura County Gym In Contempt Of Court For Continuing Indoor Operations

A judge found a Ventura County gym in contempt of court for violating a injunction to stop indoor operations.

Ventura County prosecutors say BSF Fitness in Ventura has defied county and state public health department orders banning indoor operations because of coronavirus safety concerns.

The preliminary injunction was issued September 4th, and ordered BSF to comply with safety requirements.  At a hearing, prosecutors presented information that the Ventura gym continued indoor operations on September 8th, 9th, and 10th.  A number of gyms in the region have moved operations outdoors to comply with health orders.

The court ordered BSF to pay a $500 fine for each day of illegal operation, and is requiring it to reimburse the District Attorney’s office for costs associated with the case.
