A Santa Barbara County based non-profit which has been helping with the battle against coronavirus around the world is getting nearly $200,000 from an unexpected source.

3M and Amazon filed a number of lawsuits against the makers and sellers of counterfeit protective N-95 masks.  They won a judgement and permanent injunction against four companies.

As a part of the resolution of the suits, the companies have to donate more than $190,000 to charity.  3M and Amazon decided that the money should go to Santa Barbara County based Direct Relief.

The agency has been distributing masks, other safety gear, and essential medical supplies around the world as well as here on the Central and South Coasts.
