Until recently, UC Santa Barbara baseball could only take place during the day, with games typically starting at 1 in the afternoon.
But Monday night, for the first time in history, UC Santa Barbara's Gaucho baseball team played under the evening lights.
A large crowd assembled for the first official night game, and watched the Gauchos beat Cal 17 to 6.
Now, UC Santa Barbara has 23 games slated to take place under the lights this year.
The team has had great success in recent years: last year they won 45 games and a Big West title.
