Lompoc has a big financial challenge ahead, and is looking to save $1.8 million from its budget through means other than employee layoffs.
Several multi-point plans have been brought up at meetings.
Suggestions have included voluntary employee furloughs, delaying the demolition of the closed city pool, reducing fuel costs, and holding off on library funding increases.
A proposed plan to close city hall every other week or a sales tax increase would have to go before voters.
Another meeting to discuss the shortfall in the budget is scheduled for September.
