A Central Coast community has been rocked by its first murder since 2006.
A Fresno man was fatally wounded in a confrontation near the Pismo Beach Pier.
It happened just before midnight Saturday night. Pismo Beach Police detectives say a group of about a half dozen people confronted the victim, and demanded to know what gang he was in. They say during the argument a man joined the group and fired multiple shots at the victim, who later died at a hospital.
The name of the 40-year-old man hasn’t been released. Detectives think the gunman may be from Fresno, and are working with police there to try to identify the man.
