There’s been a massive sewage spill in Ventura County tied to the storm.
Two Ojai Valley Sanitary District lines were damaged. Ventura County Environmental Health officials say more than 14 million gallons of sewage was released into the Ventura River. The spill started January 9.
Officials say it affected the river, San Antonio Creek, and some Ventura County beaches.
Signs have been posted for people to stay out of the river, the creek, and out of the ocean in the area until testing shows that it’s safe. The ocean closure extends from Mondos Cove Beach, which is west of Ventura, to Surfer’s Knoll, south of Ventura Harbor.
