A South Coast city has taken another step towards dealing with the affordable housing crisis in the region.
The City of Thousand Oaks donated nearly four acres of land to the non-profit group Housing Land Trust Ventura County for development of an affordable townhome project.
Plans call for the property on North Erbes Road to be turned into a nearly 80 unit townhouse project. The townhouses will be priced to help families which might not otherwise be able to afford homes in the area.
It’s the latest effort by Thousand Oaks to combat the housing crisis. The city, along with Ventura County recently finalized plans for turning a Thousand Oaks motel into a 77-unit apartment complex serving the homeless. Construction started in September on that renovation project.
