Firefighters getting upper hand on brush fire in Santa Barbara County

Blaze burning northwest of Goleta into Los National Forest property: no homes threatened.

Firefighters are getting the upper hand on a brush fire burning in the foothills of Southern Santa Barbara County.

The blaze was reported at around 2:15 p.m. Thursday northwest of Goleta, near north Glen Anne Road. No structures are reported to be threatened, and the fire is burning away from the city.

Air tankers and helicopters have been used to fight the fire. As of 4 p.m., just under 30 acres of brush has been blackened, with firefighters initially saying it has the potential to burn about 35 acres.
