Small plane crashes in Ventura County

Fire reported after crash; Debris field reported.

A small plane has crashed in Ventura County.

The plane went down at 8 a.m. Friday, just west of Camarillo Airport, ending up in an agricultural field near Del Norte Boulevard. There was a fire, and debris is scattered around the field.

There's no word on how many people were on board, or if there are survivors. The plane had just taken off from Camarillo Airport, and was headed to Phoenix.

The crash was off of Highway 101, but it didn't directly affect the highway.
