13 cases identified, visitations suspended at Main Santa Barbara County Jail

After having COVID-19 in check for months, there’s been a major new outbreak at a South Coast jail.

13 cases have been identified this week at the Main Santa Barbara County Jail.

None of the cases have required hospitalization, and 11 of these diagnosed with the virus are asymptomatic. But, as a result of the outbreak, visits to the jail have been suspended. Some scheduled court appearance for inmates are also being moved.

The jail has extensive safety protocols in place. New inmates are tested, and placed in isolation for the first week of their stay. And, the jail continues to offer free vaccinations to all inmates.
