A rocket launched from the Central Coast successfully put a secret U.S. government payload into orbit.

SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 rocket into space from Vandenberg Space Force Base at 6:13 a.m. Sunday. Minutes later, the reusable SpaceX booster landed back at the base.

The launch had been originally planned for Friday morning, but was pushed back after some undisclosed technical delays.
