A South Coast observatory is reopening to the public this week for the first time since the pandemic.
The Westmont College Observatory will have a free, public viewing Friday night. People will be able to check out the stars through Westmont’s Keck Telescope. And, members of an astronomy club, the Santa Barbara Astronomical Unit will bring their telescopes to share with the public.
The event begins at 7 p.m. It’s the first time in two years the observatory has been open to the public. Face coverings are required for visitors. The observatory is near the baseball field on the college’s campus in Montecito.
