Ventura County is moving into the home stretch of its county supervisorial district redistricting process. Like all jurisdiction, the county realigns its districts every ten years based on census data, to try to reflect population shifts.
County supervisors will hold virtual public hearings at 3 and 6 p.m. Tuesday to continue the process. They’ve narrowed the process down to two maps developed through a public process. There are also three other maps submitted by community groups.
All of the maps include two districts which would be majority Latino, reflecting the county’s demographics. One of the biggest remaining issues is how some cities would be split by district lines.
Additional hearings have been set for November 16th, with a possibility the board may make a decision on a final map at that time.
