The COVID-19 case surge on the Central and South Coasts is now prompting one of the region’s largest concert venues to beef up health requirements.
The Santa Barbara Bowl is now requiring proof of vaccination, or proof of a recent negative COVID-19 test for admission.
Rick Boller is Executive Director of the Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation, the non-profit which runs the venue. He says if unvaccinated people bring negative test results for entry, they must be within 72 hours of the event. In some cases, bands are requiring tests within 48 hours. You should check the requirements the week of the concerton the bowl’s website.
The requirements apply to everyone, even children under 12. Because it’s an outdoor concert venue, masks are not being required. But, it’s recommended people wear them regardless of vaccination status.
The Bowl reopened August 21 after being closed for 22 months by the pandemic.
