A staff member testing positive for COVID-19 has led to the temporary closure of a South Coast animal shelter.
The Santa Barbara County Animal Services Shelter in Goleta will be shut down through August 22.
The Santa Barbara Humane Society's facility adjacent to the county shelter is helping by taking in stray dogs during the interim. The Animal Shelter Assistance Program, which is also located adjacent to the county shelter, will help with lost and found cats during the temporary closure.
The county’s Santa Maria Animal Center is unaffected by the shutdown.
