It may be hot and dry on the Central and South Coasts, but emergency planners are thinking about rain. They are creating the latest version of potential debris flow maps for some areas hard hit by brush fires.
Santa Barbara County officials have been working with experts to update the debris flow risk maps in the Thomas Fire burn areas.
The interactive map will be used to decide what areas might receive mandatory evacuation areas during a significant storm. It will also indicate areas where people may be asked to shelter in place if a fast moving storm hits.
A community meeting is being planned to go over the map, and answer questions from residents. It will take place at 5:30 p.m. on December 5th at Montecito Union School.
