It’s a heated subject on the South Coast. Efforts to build two new power plants in the region have created a firestorm of controversy for years. Now, not only are both of the projects up in their air, there are also plans to shut down two existing power plants in the region.

KCLU's Lance Orozco has more on plans by NRG to shut down its facilities at Ormond Beach, in Oxnard, and its Ellwood Plant in Goleta.
