A new water pipeline is bringing millions of gallons of recycled water to a South Coast city.

The Ventura County Public Works Agency has recently completed a two-mile recycled water pipeline and booster pump station.

The agency’s Water and Sanitation Director Michaela Brown says the $3.7 million pipeline will supply the city of Moorpark – including the Rustic Canyon Golf Course and some homes – with 135 million gallons of recycled water a year.

“That’s water that comes from our wastewater treatment plant that can then be re-utilized -- after it’s treated -- for irrigation purposes serving agricultural, recreational and landscaping customers,” she said.

Brown also said customers will save about 50% on their water bills. But more importantly, using recycled water will increase water supply reliability and reduce dependence on imported water.
