A Central Coast man has been identified as the victim of a fatal traffic accident which closed a section of Highway 101 on the South Coast for nearly two hours this morning.
The CHP says Jacob David Franks was riding a motorcycle northbound on the highway near Santa Monica Road, in Carpinteria when he hit the side of a northbound SUV. The motorcycle then veered into the rear of a northbound car. Franks was thrown from the motorcycle. The 29 year old Nipomo man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The drivers of the other two vehicles were unhurt.
The accident just after 7:30 this morning closed the northbound lanes of the 101 in Carpinteria for about 90 minutes, with traffic routed around the crash until shortly after nine a.m. It backed up traffic for miles.
