A South Coast based relief agency has helped deliver 1.75 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine to four countries.
The U.S. government turned to Santa Barbara based Direct Relief for help. The non-profit used its connections with FedEx to get the vaccine shipped for free.
The vaccine was flown from the U.S. to Mexico City. 1.35 million doses of the vaccine is destined for use in Mexico. Mexico’s Air Force then flew 100,000 doses of vaccine to Belize, and 150,000 doses each to Bolivia and Paraguay.
Direct Relief has now made more than 38,000 humanitarian shipments around the world since the start of the pandemic.
