Using tools normally brought out for crushed cars, Santa Barbara County Firefighters saved a 12 year old horse Thursday at Hope Ranch.

The mare had suffered injuries to its left leg when it got entangled with a fence that it was apparently trying to jump.

Santa Barbara County Firefighters used the jaws of life to free the horse after the animal had been sedated.

A veterinarian was also on scene for the rescue.
