Concerns over a salt marsh project in Carpinteria have the work getting a second look in an area where big trucks are hauling out silt.
Santa Barbara County Flood Control District officials say the work will open the channels for winter rainfall runoff and keep the special reserve ecologically vibrant.
Still, residents have issues. Some say there is a dust and dirt problem from the trucks and their payloads, and although there's a street sweeper assigned to go back and forth, that same sweeper is also stirring up the particulates.
There are requests for more oversight or water trucks to keep the dust down during construction.
