Highway 154, San Marcos Pass, has had another noticeable rise in accidents.

An all-out effort is underway to make the drive in the Santa Ynez valley safer.

A united effort has been launched with the California Highway Patrol, other area law enforcement, community leaders and residents, to reduce collisions.

This includes more enforcement, education, and both a service and safety review of vehicles so they're operating correctly on the highway.

CHP says slowing down, reducing aggressive driving and avoiding distracted driving will also make a life-saving difference, especially during the busy summer months.
