Three South American suspects arrested

Detectives say they’ve arrested three men in connection with an international burglary ring which targeted homes on the South Coast. investigators say the men arrested were part of a highly skilled team experienced in high-end home burglaries.

Ventura County Sheriff’s detectives were investigating a rash of home burglaries in the Championship Hills area of Moorpark. In May, an alert homeowner called officers because they believed a burglary might be underway in the neighborhood. Deputies were aware of the string of burglaries, and arrested a man they say was a lookout driver.

It was then discovered more than $100,000 in items had been stolen from a home in the neighborhood.

Detectives pursued the case, leading to the arrest of three men based in San Bernardino County. They say they found thousands of dollars in stolen items. All three men were from South America.

Investigators say there have been a number of groups coming to Southern California from South America specifically to commit high end burglaries and home invasion robberies. They say those involved are organized, and know tactics specifically focused on how to evade law enforcement officers.
