A teenager on the South Coast has been arrested after he was accused of threatening to commit a school shooting.

Ventura police say just after 1 pm on Friday, a school resource officer working at Buena High School was alerted to the threat made by a male student.

A 17-year-old was shot and wounded yesterday in the normally quiet Goleta area of Santa Barbara County.

Few details have been released about the location of the incident, but residents in nearby neighborhoods were contacted by the Sheriff's Department for information.

Authorities say that a law enforcement officer who died trying to stop a gunman who had gone on a rampage at a Thousand Oaks club was killed by friendly fire.

A Central Coast man is now facing an involuntary manslaughter charge after his 13-year-old brother was shot and fatally wounded.

The incident happened Saturday at a Santa Maria home. Leonardo Navarro was flown to a hospital in Santa Barbara, where he died Monday.

Investigators say Fernando Castro abducted a 15 year old girl in Vallejo. He was then spotted driving on Highway 101 in Santa Barbara County. He fired at officers on two separate occasions, and was shot to death in Solvang as he drove a stolen truck in the direction of some officers while firing at them.

A shooting on the South Coast has left three people injured.

Santa Paula Police say officers responded just before 3 a.m. Saturday to a trailer park in the 200 block of South Beckwith Road. An investigation determined that three people were confronted by two suspects before the shooting occurred.

Police in a South Coast city are investigating a pair of murders they say may be related.

Oxnard Police detectives say a man was shot on the 300 block of North G Street just after nine Tuesday night. The 29 year old Oxnard man was pronounced dead a short time later at a hospital.

Then, early Wednesday morning the body of another shooting victim was found on the 5400 block of Perkins Road.

Authorities are investigating a murder on the Central Coast.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office says around 1:30 Saturday morning, deputies responded to a report of a man with a gun at a bar in Orcutt. They arrived at Elmer’s on Clark Avenue and learned that a man was down with a gunshot wound. Deputies and paramedics located the victim who was pronounced dead at the scene. During that time, neighbors received an emergency alert that notified them to shelter in place.

More details are expected late Monday about an officer-involved shooting that happened Sunday night in Santa Barbara County.

The shooting took place on Russell Way near La Cumbre, just outside the Santa Barbara city limits, at about 10 p.m.

The investigation is continuing into a fatal officer-involved shooting on the Central Coast.

San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s deputies looking for a wanted suspect stopped a car on the southbound 101 near the Santa Barbara Road exit in Atascadero just after 12 this morning. Deputies say as they approached the man, he pulled out a gun. They opened fire, and retreated.

After backup officers arrived and the freeway was closed, officers again approached the car and discovered the man was dead.

A woman is dead, and a man is being sought in what police think was a domestic violence case in Ventura County.

Oxnard Police were called to the 100 block of North Juanita Street at around 10:30 a.m. Thursday by reports of a man dragging a woman into a home, followed by multiple gunshots.

Officers pulled a wounded woman outside, who died despite life saving efforts at the scene.

Police say Alfredo Ortiz of Oxnard is a suspect in the killing. Detectives say the 33 year old man is armed, and dangerous.

The name of the victim hasn’t been released yet.

The Concert Across America filled the Arlington Theater with music fans, all  united in the effort to end senseless killings with guns.

The idea was developed in part out of Santa Barbara, with the local chapter of the Coalition Against Gun Violence.
