gunshot

A 17-year-old was shot and wounded yesterday in the normally quiet Goleta area of Santa Barbara County.

Few details have been released about the location of the incident, but residents in nearby neighborhoods were contacted by the Sheriff's Department for information.

A man sporting a bloody hand in the lobby of a Motel 6 said Monday his wound came from an accidental gunshot.

The sheriff's department came to the scene of the Carpinteria motel and the man was rushed to Santa Barbara's Cottage Hospital.

The bodies of a man and a woman have been discovered inside a home in Oxnard, and detectives are investigating the case as a homicide.

Oxnard Police Sergeant Bakari Myers says officers were called to the 5400 block of Barrymore Drive just before 5 p.m. yesterday.

"Upon arrival, officers discovered a male and a female deceased from apparent gunshot wounds," he said.
