Thunderstorm activity prompted a Flash Flood Watch for mountain areas of the Central and South Coasts Saturday.  There could be locally heavy rainfall at times in mountain areas Saturday afternoon and evening.  However, no watches or warnings have been issued for the region's brush fire burn zones.

The long awaited reopening of a Santa Barbara County pool has happened, but it’s going to be a few weeks still before people will be able to make their first splash in it.

Cuyama’s community pool was re-dedicated yesterday after a four year closure. The pool opened in 2010, but two years after it opened, a major leak was noted. Experts determined that an underground drain pipe had become disconnected, which caused soil movement which cracked the pool. There was a legal fight, and redesign work, but now, Cuyama’s pool project is complete.

A new Santa Barbara County Grand Jury report is critical of operations of a community services district in the county.

The report says the Cuyama Community Services District reliably performs its primary function, which is to provide water and sewer services to residents of New Cuyama.

But, the Grand Jury has issues with the way the District is being managed, saying it’s failing to do annual performance reviews, and isn’t enforcing a number of workplace environment policies.
