Woolsey Fire Flareups Possible For Next Few Days As Firefighters Work Towards Full Containment

The massive Woolsey fire in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties is still far from being under control. A flareup in the rugged mountains northwest of Lake Sherwood Tuesday sent a massive plume of smoke into the air visible from as far away as Los Angeles and Santa Barbara.

A fleet of more than a half dozen helicopters aided by a gigantic DC-10 air tanker corraled the flareup before it could spread. KCLU’s Lance Orozco reports firefighters say we could have more dangerous flareups before the fire is fully contained.

Lance Orozco has been News Director of KCLU since 2001, providing award-winning coverage of some of the biggest news events in the region, including the Thomas and Woolsey brush fires, the deadly Montecito debris flow, the Borderline Bar and Grill attack, and Ronald Reagan's funeral.
