Woman Gets Eight Year Prison Sentence For DUI Crash In Ventura County Which Killed One, Injured Four

Prosecutors say a woman who caused a multi-vehicle DUI crash in Ventura County which killed one person, and hurt four others is headed to prison.

Investigators say Maia Yasmine James had more than seven drinks before driving the car which led to the tragedy in October of 2017.

The Palmdale woman was on Highway 126 east of Fillmore when she veered into oncoming traffic and hit two other vehicles. A passenger in the 22 year old woman’s car was killed.

James was convicted of gross vehicular manslaughter, and driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury. She was sentenced to eight years in state prison.
