Wild Car Chase Ends With Vehicle Crashing Into Central Coast High School

Three teens are behind bars following a wild car chase in Santa Barbara County which ended when they crashed on a high school campus.

A CHP officer tried to stop a car headed northbound on Highway 1 between Buellton and Lompoc just after 10 a.m. Tuesday. The driver refused to stop, with officers saying the car was being driven recklessly through Lompoc. The car then went over a curb, crashing into an electrical box on the Lompoc High School campus.

The three teenage boys in the car fled on foot, leading to the school being placed on lockdown. The teens were arrested about an hour later without further incident.

CHP investigators say the car had been stolen in Goleta.
