Warning Issued About Stinky Scam On Central Coast

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s detectives say a number of people in the county have been hit by a scam which literally stinks. Some people have been going door to door in the county selling fertilizer services for lawns. But, investigators say scammers have dumped huge piles of manure on the lawns, and then demanded much more money than was included in the original estimate.

Detectives say the scammers would then refuse to leave unless they received additional payment.

To avoid being victimized, investigators say you should look for licensed contractors, ask for references, and request a written estimate.
