A Santa Barbara congressman is co-sponsoring legislation to improve Holocaust education in public schools.
Democratic Congressman Salud Carbajal of Santa Barbara joined with Republican Congressman Don Bacon of Nebraska to co-sponsor HR 5460.
Carbajal says the recent synagogue shootings which left 11 people dead highlight the need for children to know about the history, and consequences of anti-Semitism.
It calls for establishment of a U.S. Department of Education fund to create a Holocaust education website, develop curriculum, and provide grants to schools, and teachers.
