Volunteers, Officials Go To Door-To-Door To Warn About Storm Dangers On South Coast

Going door to door all day Saturday in Montecito, volunteers and emergency workers spread the message of how to prepare for strong winter storms.

They also explained how to properly understand the various evacuation information that Santa Barbara County evacuation officials would disseminate.

The County has just released new risk maps in Carpinteria and Montecito, and officials wanted to be sure that residents understood them, knew if they were in the danger zones, and had an idea of what to do if they were told to evacuate.

The evacuation warning would come out in advance of a storm, but officials also cautioned a situational awareness in case things change.

There have also been many community meetings in the last few weeks to explain the new risk maps and warnings.

Andy worked at KCLU from 2016 until 2022.
