Veteran South Coast Politician Appears To Hold Off Challenger In Supervisor Race

One of the most successful politicians on the South Coast appears to have held off another challenger, and won another race.

Das Williams, the First District Supervisor in Santa Barbara County who has also been in the state assembly and city council, has the most votes coming out of Super Tuesday's election night.

With thousands of votes still to be counted, Williams says he is confident he's overcome his opponent Laura Capps, but it's still wait and see.

With regard to voters, Williams says that "they remember how to get results on public safety and the environment, and that's supporting this work that we've done."

Across town, challenger Laura Capps, daughter of former Congresswoman Lois Capps and the late Congressman Walter Capps, said that regardless of the outcome, her campaign is going to effect change.

"We have the second highest rate of poverty in this entire state here in Santa Barbara County," Capps said.

Andy worked at KCLU from 2016 until 2022.
