Ventura County Woman Accused Of Embezzling More Than $300,000 From Employer

A longtime employee of a technology company based in Ventura County has been arrested on embezzlement charges. Ventura County prosecutors say Laura Leonard worked for Protek CNC Sales Corporation in Simi Valley, which sells computer controlled manufacturing machines.

For five years, she was office manager. Last October, company officials noticed suspicious purchases on a credit card statement.

Prosecutors say an investigation showed she had used company cards and checks to steal more than $300,000. The 44 year old Simi Valley woman is facing seven counts of felony grand theft. If convicted of all charges, she could face more than nine years in state prison.
