Authorities are trying to figure out what led to a near tragedy in Ventura County, when police say a woman put a plastic bag over her three year old son’s head in a burning home. It happened in Santa Paula.
Santa Paula Police say Maricela Magana Ruiz called 911 Sunday night. When they arrived, they found the house on fire, and the woman by her feet to a bed.
Investigators say the little boy told them that his mother had put the bag on his head, and tied his hands. The boy and the mother escaped without serious injury. The boy was removed from the home, and Ruiz has been charged with felony child endangerment.
