A Ventura County musician who was impacted by the Thomas Fire is now giving back through music to help the community recover.
Singer-songwriter and longtime Ojai resident Ted Lennon recorded a song called “Eating Crow." It’s one of 20 songs by artists who have a connection to Ojai on a new album called Alchemy of Fire that was spearheaded by Lennon.
“I think I just felt moved to try to give back to a community that’s given so much to me,” he says.
The Thomas Fire caused Lennon to evacuate, but luckily his home survived. He says he hopes the music has a healing power.
“Songs are a reflection of the resilience that it takes to get though natural disasters and catastrophes. A lot of the music reflects the ability to just stand strong together as a community and try to get through something that seems impossible,” he says.
All proceeds from the album go to the nonprofit Greater Goods Ojai Relief Fund to help those impacted by the Thomas Fire.
