Ventura County Man Convicted Of Intentionally Hitting, Killing Transient With Pickup Truck

A Ventura County man has been convicted of second degree murder, after a jury found him guilty of an intentional hit and run collision which killed a transient.

On May 2rd, Oxnard Police were called to an alley off of Mariposa Street.  Michael Holley had been struck, and killed by a vehicle.  Detectives say they linked the death to a pickup truck driven by Juan Gallegos III.

Investigators say as they looked at surveillance video and talked to witnesses, they found that the 26 year old Oxnard man had intentionally struck the transient.  His attorney contended it had been an accident.

Gallegos will be sentenced in December, and could potentially face 26 years to life in prison.
