Ventura County Jail Inmate Dies; Autopsy Shows It Was Result Of Natural Causes

A man who was a Ventura County jail inmate has died.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s office just released details of the death, which happened last week.

Rey Zavala was in the dayroom of the Pre-Trial Detention facility last Wednesday when he had a medical emergency. Deputies and jail medical staff started emergency first aid, and paramedics were called.

The 25 year old man was first taken to Ventura County Medical Center, and then moved to Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, where he died a day later. The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office reports Zavala’s death was from natural causes.
