Ventura County is developing a $20 million dollar relief plan intended to help small businesses and families hard hit by the impacts of coronavirus.
The federally-funded relief effort is intended to help some of the businesses and residents hardest hit by coronavirus.
One element of the program would help impacted small businesses. Recipients would get $5,000 grants which could be used to pay salaries, rent, to buy personal protective gear, and for modifications needed to make businesses compliant with coronavirus safety regulations.
Another part of the program would help people who have lost work due to coronavirus pay their rent. The focus would be on those most at risk of becoming homeless due to coronavirus impacts.
The Ventura County CEO’s office developed the program in collaboration with non-profit groups like the Ventura County Community Foundation. County Supervisors are set to look at the plan next week, with it going online in mid-June.
