Ventura County To Consider Support Program For Farm Workers

Ventura County is close to adopting what some call the most cutting edge program to help farmworkers in the country.

The proposed Farmworker Resource Program would set up an agency with a dedicated staff to provide support for the workers.

The concept was developed after nearly a year of effort by farmworkers, growers, and non-profit groups in the community. The program’s boosters say given the importance of agriculture to the county’s economy, it will be a key resource for the critical labor force for the community.

County Supervisors will consider the proposal Tuesday morning.
