A protest march on the South Coast over the death of George Floyd led to some vandalism, including a historical landmark being damaged.
It happened Wednesday night in Oxnard.
Police say about 500 people took part in two marches. The first one, with about 350 was peaceful.
But, a second, smaller one led to some problems. The Oxnard Police station was vandalized, and the Plaza Park lawn was damaged when vehicles were driven onto it. And vandals sprayed graffiti on some downtown Oxnard businesses, as well as the historic Oxnard Pagoda at the park.
No one was hurt, but police say one of their vehicles was damaged as rocks and bottles were thrown at them as they were making an arrest. Police Chief Scott Whitney noted the vast majority of marchers were peaceful, and says it was only a handful of people that caused problems.
