Detectives say they are trying to figure out why a Ventura County man stabbed two relatives as they were sleeping in the apartment they shared. It happened at around 5 a.m. Sunday, on the 200 block of West Vineyard Avenue of Oxnard.
Investigators say Juan Tavares stabbed a 50 year old man and a 46 year old woman. None of the wounds are described as being life threatening. The woman was able to escape, and go to a neighboring apartment to call police.
Another family member was able to stop and hold the 21 year old man until police came and arrested him. Tavares is facing attempted murder, and assault with a deadly weapon charges.
