Two Arrested After Rash Of Car Burglaries, Car Chase On South Coast

Two people are in custody on the South Coast following a string of car burglaries, and a car chase. Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies say there was a series of burglaries at Goleta’s Calle Real shopping center Saturday afternoon. Later in the day, deputies spotted a vehicle possibly linked to the crimes in Carpinteria.

But, the driver of the car fled. After a short chase on Highway 101, the vehicle got into a minor traffic accident. A woman who was in the car was arrested at the scene, and a man was arrested a short time later in a nearby neighborhood.

Investigators say in addition to the car burglaries, the vehicle the duo was driving had been reported stolen out of the Bay Area.
