A South Coast university has announced it will become 100% smoke and tobacco free.
Cal State Channel Islands in Camarillo will take the step August 23rd.
The Cal State Chancellor’s Office has ordered all 23 campuses in the system to ban smoking. The new restrictions include traditional smoking as well as chewing tobacco, e-cigarettes, and vaping devices.
Cal State Channel Islands officials say they never had formal smoking areas, but they cropped up over the years. Ashtrays will be removed from CSUCI, and no smoking signs posted around campus.
