Thieves Target Catalytic Converters In Cars On Central Coast; Nearly Two Dozen Hit

Some thieves have been stealing parts off of dozens of cars on the Central Coast, and police are asking for the public’s help in catching them.

Nearly two dozen vehicles have had their catalytic converters stolen in the City of San Luis Obispo in the last month.

The air pollution control devices are expensive, and are valuable on the black market. Most of the vehicles targeted have been Honda Accords, or Toyota Priuses.

The crimes have been occurring in the early morning hours. Investigators are hoping someone may have caught the thieves in action on home surveillance cameras.
