Teens Arrested For Ventura County Murder Could Be Tried As Adults

Ventura County prosecutors may try two teenagers accused of murdering a man in Oxnard this week as adults.

Oxnard Police were called to the Bard Road area at around four a.m. Sunday by report of an assault.  They found Adrian Omelas on the ground with multiple stab wounds.  The 26 year old Oxnard man was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police spotted a vehicle reported to be used by the attackers later in the day.  After stopping it, they arrested the two teens on murder charges.

The arraignment of the 15 and 16 year old boys was continued to July, but Ventura County prosecutors filed a motion to transfer the two from juvenile to adult court.  There are still no details on what led to the attack.
