Storm Has Low Key Start On Central And South Coasts, But Heavier Rain Expected Thursday

The first wave of what’s expected to be a two part storm has arrived on the Central and South Coast, with the biggest punch expected in the second part. Part one of the storm has been pretty unimpressive, with rainfall amounts of less than a half inch for much of the Central and South Coasts. But, there’s a big plume of subtropical moisture streaming into California.

Overnight Wednesday and into midday Thursday, we could see one to two inches of rain on the coast and inland, and possible up to four inches of rain in some foothill in mountain areas.

There are no evacuation watches or warnings, with one exception. The Ventura Beach RV Resort has been ordered to evacuate in case the Ventura River again overflows it banks.

Meteorologists think the jet stream may push much of the rain to the south of us. There is a Flash Flood Watch for the Hill, and Woolsey brush fire burn areas in Ventura and Los Angeles Counties.
