State Senate Passes Bill By South Coast Legislator Intended To Track Pay Gap Issues

A bill by a South Coast legislator intended to help close wage gaps has been passed by the State Senate. SB 171 would require California employers with 100, or more employees to submit an annual pay data report.

Democratic State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson of Santa Barbara authored the bill. It’s intended to provide information which could show issues with compensation and hours related to gender and ethnicity.

The legislation now goes to the State Assembly for consideration.
